Strengthening community wellbeing at Penfold Age Well Centre
8th July 2026
A new series of community wellbeing workshops is being delivered at Penfold Age Well Centre through a growing collaboration between local community partners and the One You Healthy Lifestyle Service. The initiative reflects a shared ambition to bring holistic, accessible and preventative health and wellbeing support directly into community spaces where people already feel comfortable, safe and connected.
The workshops have been developed as a gentle starting point an introduction to health and wellbeing support shaped around the needs of the community. The sessions aim to create a relaxed, welcoming and inclusive environment where residents can explore their health and wellbeing, build confidence, and begin to take ownership of the practical tools and strategies that can support them in everyday life.
The programme is led by Sally McMahon and Dafina Churchill, Partnership Managers at Reed Wellbeing, who have been working closely with local partners to develop the collaboration and ensure it reflects the needs of the local community.
The sessions at Penfold Age Well Centre are supported by their team, led by Telama Asemota, Activity Coordinator, and have been co-designed by our Health and Wellbeing Coaches Biancamaria Eccher, Catalina Borquez and Laura Reynolds. They bring a wealth of experience across behaviour change, health coaching, naturopathic and holistic nutritional therapy, and community engagement.
Their approach focuses on creating a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where residents can feel heard, ask questions, build motivation and explore simple, realistic ways to support their health.
A key focus of the work is reducing barriers to engagement. By bringing the One You offer directly into Penfold Age Well Centre and local community spaces, residents are able to access support in a way that feels manageable, familiar and approachable. The workshops also provide a pathway into wider free One You services, including one-to-one support around healthy eating, physical activity, general wellbeing and smoking cessation, without residents feeling overwhelmed or pressured.
This partnership forms part of a wider programme of community-based work being developed across the area, as One You continues to work collaboratively with local organisations to improve access to health and wellbeing support. The focus remains on listening, adapting and building meaningful relationships that can create long-term, sustainable impact.
At the heart of One You’s work is the belief that good health is not simply about helping people live longer, but helping people live longer, healthier and better-quality lives. This reflects the important difference between lifespan how long a person lives and health span the period of life spent in good health, free from preventable chronic disease and disability.
At its core, the work at Penfold Age Well Centre is about connection between services, partners and the community. By working together in trusted local spaces, this partnership is helping to create a foundation for healthier, more confident and more connected lives.
