Creating healthier habits – Anida’s story

13th May 2026

Anida joined the One You Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Eat Well service to better manage her weight and improve her overall health. Motivated to make sustainable lifestyle changes, she worked closely with her Health & Wellbeing Coach, Eva, to build healthier habits and reduce the risk of regaining weight while managing her diabetes.

“I joined the programme because I wanted to lose weight and improve my health. I’m currently managing diabetes and was concerned that my weight might increase again if my lifestyle wasn’t under control. My goal was to maintain my weight and lose a little more.”

The One You KCW Eat Well service supports residents to develop healthier eating habits through personalised guidance and practical support. The programme helps individuals better understand portion sizes, make balanced food choices, and build sustainable routines that fit their lifestyle. With one-to-one coaching, tools such as food diaries, and ongoing encouragement, the service empowers people to take control of their nutrition and maintain long-term wellbeing.

“To achieve this, I focused on eating smaller portions, increasing my intake of vegetables, reducing carbohydrates, and adding more fruit into my diet. I also started doing more exercise, including dancing and walking.”

“This programme has helped me a lot, particularly with keeping a food diary and becoming more mindful of what I eat. I’ve noticed I’m no longer craving biscuits or cakes as much. While I did enjoy a piece of cake at my granddaughter’s birthday, I’m now choosing fruit more often instead.”

“So far, I’ve made great progress – my waist measurement has reduced from 101cm in February to 93.5cm in April, and I’ve reached 65kg. I feel motivated to continue, and my next step is to keep losing more weight and reduce belly fat while maintaining the healthy habits I’ve built.”
