Building strength and support – Maria Tania’s story
13th May 2026

Maria Tania joined the One You Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Making Positive Change service after being referred by Shaw Trust. Looking to improve her overall wellbeing, she was motivated to gain greater understanding of how to manage her physical and mental health, while building a stronger sense of support through her journey.
Making Positive Change will help participants to discover and important healthy lifestyle and make changes to their habits. Our programme is designed for people who could benefit from lifestyle changes in order to reduce risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease. They will work one-to-one with a personal Health & Wellbeing Coach to identify their own needs and decide what the right strategy is for them.
“I joined the programme after being referred, as I wanted to improve my wellbeing. I was hoping to widen my knowledge and receive guidance to help me manage my painful health conditions and mental health.”
“Through the sessions, I’ve gained more knowledge on how to break down the process of managing my health conditions. Having a supportive coach like Eva, who I can talk to about things I’m stressed or struggling with, has really helped me stay grounded. It’s been helpful to have someone to listen and guide me.”
“Looking ahead, I want to continue building on what I’ve learned in my sessions. Continuing with this support would be really valuable for me, and I feel motivated to keep applying the strategies and knowledge I’ve gained to improve my wellbeing.”
