Building healthier habits- Jane's story

19th June 2026

After discovering raised diabetic markers, Jane joined the One You Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Eat Well service, determined to make meaningful changes to her health.

“I joined the programme because I wanted to lower my diabetic markers and take control of my health. I knew my main challenge was my sugar intake, especially in the evenings, and I wanted to find a realistic way to manage it.”

Eat Well is a free service offer by One You Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster that supports residents to make sustainable lifestyle changes. Through personalised coaching, participants receive tailored guidance on nutrition, healthy habits, and overall wellbeing, helping them make changes that fit into their daily lives.

“Working with my Health & Wellbeing Coach helped me recognise my habits and understand where I was going wrong. Together, we found a simple and manageable solution — avoiding sugar after 7pm. Because it wasn’t a strict ‘no sugar at all’ rule, it felt achievable and easier to stick to. Having face-to-face sessions also helped me stay accountable and really focus on making a plan that works for me.”

“I’ve stuck to my goal of cutting out sugar in the evenings and have become much more aware of my choices. I’ve also started trying new, healthier recipes and incorporating them into my daily life. I feel more in control and confident that I can continue making positive changes.”

“My goal now is to keep reducing my sugar intake and build on the healthier habits I’ve created. This experience has shown me that small, realistic changes can make a big difference.”
