A journey back to strength – Mehrdad’s story

13th May 2026

Mehrdad joined the One You Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Lose Weight service after being referred by his GP. Having previously been very active and athletic, he was motivated to regain control of his health after experiencing significant weight gain and a decline in his wellbeing.

“I joined the programme because I wanted to lose weight and improve my overall quality of life. I used to be very active – I competed as a boxer, taught combat skills, and had a strong fitness background. However, after I stopped training regularly, my weight increased quickly and my health started to decline. I tried different methods, including medication, but the results weren’t sustainable. That’s when I was referred to the service to help me manage my lifestyle in a more balanced way.”

One You Kensington and Chelsea is a free health and wellbeing service designed to support residents in making sustainable lifestyle changes. The service offers personalised coaching and guidance across areas such as healthy eating, physical activity, weight management, and overall wellbeing. With access to expert health coaches, participants receive tailored advice, ongoing encouragement, and practical tools to help them achieve and maintain healthier habits.

“Working with a Health & Wellbeing Coach has helped remind me of the principles I learned years ago. I’ve come to understand that long-term change doesn’t come from quick fixes, but from consistent effort and the right mindset. So far, I’ve reduced my weight from 190.0kg to 158.5kg in just four months. I’ve successfully lost weight and regained confidence, and I feel more in control of my health again.”

“Looking ahead, I want to maintain this strong momentum. My focus is no longer just on reaching a specific number on the scale, but on building and sustaining a consistent, healthy routine. As I continue to increase my activity levels, I’m now focusing more on fat loss and overall wellbeing. I feel motivated to keep progressing and continue making positive changes for the future.”
