Maintaining healthier choices: Abdulhadi’s story

26th March 2026

After being referred by his GP, Abdulhadi joined the One You Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Eat Well programme to build healthier habits and improve his wellbeing. With guidance from his Health Coach, he began making positive changes that helped him feel more confident, motivated, and supported on his health journey.

“I joined the programme because I wanted to start eating healthier and change some of my behaviours. I knew I needed support and direction, and my GP thought the programme would help me get on the right track. From the beginning, working with my Health Coach, Barbette, gave me the motivation and encouragement I needed. She offered guidance that made sense for my lifestyle and helped me feel more confident about making positive decisions.”

The Eat Well programme helps local residents make realistic, long lasting improvements to their diet and lifestyle. Through personalised advice and ongoing encouragement from trained Health Coaches, participants learn how to develop healthier habits, understand nutrition, and make changes that fit naturally into their everyday lives.

“At first, I focused on avoiding unhealthy food and replacing it with better choices. With Barbette’s support, I became more aware of what I was eating and how small changes could make a big difference. Week by week, I felt more motivated, and I started to believe that I could keep up these new habits long term.”

“I’m really proud to have lost 4kg so far. This progress has made me feel even more determined to carry on. The service has been excellent, and the helpful tips I received have genuinely supported me in improving my daily routine. I feel positive, supported, and much more confident in myself and my ability to maintain these healthier choices.”

“Looking ahead, I want to continue sticking to my goals and using the strategies I’ve learned. I plan to review my goals as life changes, build new habits, track my progress, and keep exploring new ideas to support my wellbeing. I’m committed to continuing this journey and feel ready for the next steps.”
