Getting back on track- Mehrdad’s story
10th April 2026

Mehrdad joined One You Kensington and Chelsea & Westminster’s Lose Weight programme after being referred by his GP. With a strong background in fitness and competitive sport, he was looking for support to manage his weight and health in a more balanced and sustainable way after experiencing a significant change in lifestyle.
“I’ve always had a strong relationship with fitness. I used to compete as a boxer, teach children combat skills and stay very active. But when my regular training stopped a few years ago, my weight increased quickly and my health began to decline. I tried different approaches to lose weight, including medication, but nothing felt sustainable — the weight always came back. When my GP referred me to One You’s Lose Weight programme, I wanted help to manage my lifestyle properly, not just for weight loss, but so I could enjoy other parts of my life again.”
The Lose Weight programme supports residents to make long-term, realistic lifestyle changes through personalised one-to-one coaching. Participants work with a dedicated Health & Wellbeing Coach to set achievable goals, reflect on habits, and build routines that fit their lives.
“My coach, Eva, played a key role in my journey. Working with her reminded me of principles I’d learned years ago but had lost sight of. The support wasn’t about being told what to do — it was about reflection, accountability and rebuilding structure."
“I realised that lasting change doesn’t come from external solutions alone. Machines, pills or short-term fixes can only do so much. Real progress comes from consistency, mindset and taking responsibility for your own wellbeing — and having the right support makes that much easier."
“Over four months, I reduced my weight from 190.0 kg to 158.5 kg. But just as importantly, I regained confidence. The programme pushed me to return to healthy routines and helped me think carefully about my next steps rather than rushing toward an end goal.”
“What changed most for me was how I viewed progress. It wasn’t just about the number on the scales — it was about feeling capable again and trusting myself to stay on track."
“Going forward, my focus isn’t on reaching a specific weight. I want to maintain the strong momentum I’ve built and keep a consistent, healthy routine. As my activity levels continue to increase, I’m shifting my attention toward fat loss and overall fitness, rather than weight alone.”
